WASP-82 b is a sizzling hot Jupiter orbiting the star WASP-82, discovered in 2015 by the SuperWASP project using the transit method. This distant world makes for a fiery celestial spectacle, orbiting so close to its star that its atmosphere is perpetually scorched, creating blistering temperatures and winds faster than any hurricane on Earth. Although we don’t have its exact distance handy, this exoplanet gleams as a prime example of a gas giant living life on the edge of its stellar furnace. Spied through the clever iKon-L CCD Camera perched on the ground, WASP-82 b invites us to imagine a world where the days are brief but intensely hot, a true cosmic oven in the vast gallery of distant planets.
