Meet WASP-22 b, playfully nicknamed Koyopa', a sizzling hot Jupiter that orbits its star WASP-22 with a dazzling close embrace. Discovered in 2010 using the SuperWASP telescope and its trusty iKon-L CCD Camera, Koyopa' was spotted as it stealthily passed in front of its star, causing a tiny dip in brightness—a cosmic wink captured from Earth's ground. This giant world is a gas giant, much like Jupiter but roasting much closer to its star, making it a blazing ball of gas rather than a cold giant. While Koyopa' is far away and faint to our eyes, it invites astronomers to study the wild extremes of planet formation and stellar companionship in our galaxy. A fiery neighbor, indeed!
