KELT-16 b is an ultra-hot Jupiter that orbits its star, KELT-16, in a fiery and speedy dance discovered back in 2017. This giant world was spotted using a clever technique called the transit method, where the planet momentarily dims its star’s light as it passes in front. KELT-16 b sizzles so close to its sunlike star that its surface blazes at extreme temperatures, making it a true cosmic fireball. Thanks to its discovery with the ground-based KELT survey and high-tech Apogee CCD sensors, astronomers have been able to study this scorching giant in detail. While it’s hundreds of light-years away, KELT-16 b remains a shining example of the wild diversity of worlds found beyond our solar system!
