Meet rho CrB d, an exciting new addition to the cosmic neighborhood discovered in 2023 orbiting the star rho Coronae Borealis, or rho CrB for short. This distant world was unveiled by sharp eyes at Lowell Observatory, using the high-tech EXPRES spectrograph to catch its subtle gravitational tug on its star via the radial velocity method. Though it’s far beyond our solar system, rho CrB d is a fascinating example of planetary detective work from right here on Earth. While we don’t yet have its proper name or detailed characteristics, its discovery highlights the ever-growing family of exoplanets orbiting familiar stars, reminding us there’s always more to explore in the endless dance of the cosmos!
