Meet WASP-99 b, a sizzling hot Jupiter that orbits its star WASP-99 with a fiery intensity. Discovered in 2014 using the transit method by the SuperWASP project, this planet is a true example of a gas giant living large and hot. It swings close to its star, making it scorchingly warm—definitely not a place for a vacation, unless you’re a heat-loving adventurer! WASP-99 b was spotted from Earth using the sharp eyes of the iKon-L CCD Camera, capturing its tiny dips in starlight as it passes in front of WASP-99. While we don’t have a catchy nickname yet, this exotic world invites us to imagine the alien skies and fierce starshine it endures every day.
