Meet Tanzanite, officially known as WASP-71 b, a hot Jupiter exoplanet that orbits the star WASP-71. Discovered in 2012 by the SuperWASP project using the transit method, this fiery world was spotted thanks to a careful watch with the iKon-L CCD Camera from a ground-based observatory. Tanzanite is a gas giant, much like our own Jupiter but much closer to its star, making it scorchingly hot and creating a dramatic cosmic dance as it orbits. Though it doesn’t sparkle like the gemstone it’s named after, Tanzanite’s blazing nature and swift journey around WASP-71 offer a fascinating glimpse into the wild diversity of planets beyond our solar system. A sizzling giant in the cosmos, it’s a real star of exoplanet discoveries!
