WASP-39 b, charmingly named Bocaprins, is a delightful hot Jupiter orbiting the star WASP-39. Discovered in 2011 using the transit method by the SuperWASP team, this gas giant is a real showstopper thanks to its puffy atmosphere and strikingly low density. Imagine a planet so bloated it’s like a cosmic balloon floating close to its sizzling star, basking in intense stellar light. Its discovery was made possible by the keen eyes of the iKon-L CCD camera, capturing tiny dips in starlight as Bocaprins gracefully passed in front of WASP-39. A bubbly giant with a sunny disposition, Bocaprins offers a fascinating glimpse into the variety of worlds out there beyond our solar system.
