WASP-144 b is a sizzling hot Jupiter orbiting the star WASP-144, discovered back in 2018 by the SuperWASP-South team using the trusty transit method. Imagine a giant, blisteringly close to its sun, making swift orbits that keep it in a fiery embrace. This exoplanet was spotted thanks to the vigilant SuperWASP-South’s iKon-L CCD Camera, capturing its telltale dimming of WASP-144’s light as it passed in front. While we don’t have a fun nickname for this world yet, its discovery adds to the fascinating gallery of exoplanets dancing around distant stars. Though it’s far beyond our reach for a vacation, WASP-144 b reminds us of the wild variety of planets out there, each with its own cosmic story.
