Meet WASP-101 b, a sizzling hot Jupiter-sized exoplanet orbiting the star WASP-101. Discovered in 2014 by the SuperWASP project using the transit method, this giant world was spotted as it regularly passed in front of its star, causing tiny dips in brightness. WASP-101 b is a gas giant, much like our own Jupiter but much closer to its star, making it scorchingly hot and likely wrapped in thick layers of clouds and swirling winds. It was discovered using the iKon-L CCD Camera from ground-based observations, showcasing how even from Earth we can uncover these distant alien worlds. While it may not have a fancy proper name yet, WASP-101 b certainly earns its place in the pantheon of intriguing exoplanets that expand our cosmic neighborhood!
