Meet TOI-470 b, a newly discovered exoplanet that made its grand debut in 2023 thanks to the vigilant eyes of the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite, affectionately known as TESS. Orbiting the star TOI-470 far out in the cosmic neighborhood, this world was spotted as it played cosmic hide-and-seek, passing in front of its host star and causing a tiny dip in brightness that TESS's CCD array eagerly recorded. While we don’t have an official proper name for this celestial orb yet, TOI-470 b is already turning heads. It’s a stellar playground discovery, inviting astronomers and stargazers alike to imagine the alien skies and spectacular sunsets under its distant star, somewhere deep in the vast theater of space.
