TOI-1080 b is an exciting exoplanet discovered in 2026 thanks to the keen eyes of the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). Orbiting the star TOI-1080, this intriguing world was spotted as it playfully passed in front of its star, causing a tiny dip in brightness that TESS's CCD array eagerly detected. Although TOI-1080 b doesn’t have a fancy IAU proper name yet, it’s already making a name for itself in the cosmic neighborhood as a fascinating target for future study. While we don’t know exactly how far it is from Earth, this planet invites us to imagine what it's like to orbit a distant star, perhaps offering new clues about the diversity of planetary systems out there in the vast reaches of space.
