OGLE-TR-56 b is an exciting exoplanet orbiting the star OGLE-TR-56, discovered back in 2002 using the transit method by the Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment (OGLE) team with their trusty OGLE CCD Array. This distant world is a sizzling hot Jupiter, hugging its star much closer than Mercury does to our Sun, which means it’s a world of extreme heat and rapid orbits. Imagine a planet so close to its star that days flash by in a blink, with skies probably glowing from intense stellar radiation. As one of the early exoplanet discoveries from ground-based telescopes, OGLE-TR-56 b helped open the door to the exciting and ever-expanding field of planet hunting beyond our solar system. Certainly a fiery gem in the cosmic neighborhood!
