K2-6 b is a sizzling hot exoplanet orbiting the star K2-6, discovered back in 2015 thanks to the keen eye of NASA's Kepler space telescope. This planet is a real scorcher, tightly hugging its star and completing its orbit in a flash, which means its days are blazing hot and far from Earth-like. K2-6 b was spotted using the transit method, where it cleverly dips in front of its star and creates a small eclipse that Kepler’s sensitive instruments catch. While we don’t have its exact distance from Earth readily available, this fiery world in the K2 campaign field continues to intrigue astronomers as they unravel the mysteries of close-orbiting planets in distant star systems. A true cosmic hot potato!
