HU Aqr AB c is an intriguing exoplanet orbiting the star system HU Aquarii, a dazzling duo known for its eclipsing dance in the constellation Sagittarius. Discovered in 2011 using the clever method of Eclipse Timing Variations at the Yunnan Astronomical Observatory, this planet was spotted thanks to the keen eye of the VersArray 1300B CCD Camera. Unlike planets orbiting a single star, HU Aqr AB c circles a binary star pair, making its journey through space a celestial waltz influenced by the gravitational tug-of-war of two suns. While we don’t have a quirky nickname for it yet, this planet’s discovery showcases the ingenuity of ground-based astronomy, revealing new worlds through the subtle shifts in starlight eclipses. It’s a fantastic example of how astronomers find planets in the cosmic dance of light and shadows!
