HD 21749 c orbits the star GJ 143 and was spotted back in 2019 by the ever-watchful eyes of the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite, or TESS for short. This little world announced itself by passing in front of its star, causing a tiny dip in brightness that caught scientists' attention. Unlike some massive gas giants, HD 21749 c is a smaller, intriguing planet that orbits fairly close to its star, making it a fascinating target for studying rocky or possibly watery worlds beyond our solar system. Discovered from space using the clever TESS CCD Array, this planet invites us to imagine what life might be like under alien skies not too far from our cosmic neighborhood!
