HATS-16 b is a fiery hot Jupiter orbiting the star HATS-16, discovered in 2016 thanks to the clever Transit method. This gas giant is a true scorch master, hugging its star closely enough to sizzle under intense stellar rays, which makes it quite the celestial inferno! Its discovery was made from the ground using the sharp-eyed Apogee 4K CCD Sensor as part of the HATSouth survey, a project known for finding such intriguing worlds. While we don’t have a catchy nickname for HATS-16 b yet, this planet’s extreme environment and close star embrace certainly make it a fascinating target for astronomers and space enthusiasts alike, showcasing just how diverse and dynamic planets beyond our solar system can be.
