Meet CD Cet b, an adventurous world orbiting the vibrant red dwarf star CD Cet, discovered back in 2020 thanks to the clever use of radial velocity techniques at the Calar Alto Observatory with the trusty CARMENES instrument. Though a bit shy on exact details, this planet is part of the exciting family of exoplanets found orbiting cool, small stars that are cooler than our Sun but full of surprises. CD Cet b’s detection from Earth-based telescopes reminds us that some of the most fascinating cosmic stories start right here at home, on our own planet, peering out into the starry night. While it doesn’t yet have a fancy IAU name, it’s definitely earned a spot on the list of worlds worth keeping an eye on!
