Meet 75 Cet c, a newly spotted exoplanet orbiting the star 75 Cet, thanks to the keen eyes at Japan’s Okayama Astrophysical Observatory! Discovered in 2023 using the radial velocity method with their trusty HIDES Echelle Spectrograph, this planet is playing cosmic hide-and-seek by tugging ever so slightly on its star’s light. While details about its size and orbit are still a bit mysterious, 75 Cet c adds to the exciting lineup of far-off worlds we keep finding just by carefully listening to the subtle wobbles stars make. Although it’s not walking distance from Earth, this ground-based discovery brings us closer to understanding the vast variety of planets swirling around other suns in our galaxy.
